An excerpt

"...Success to me is about Vision. It is the ability to rise above the immediacy of pain. It is about imagination. It is about sensitivity to small people. It is about building inclusion. It is about connectedness to a larger world existence. It is about personal tenacity. It is about giving back more to life than you take out of it. It is about creating extra-ordinary success with ordinary lives.

I wish you good luck and Godspeed. Go, kiss the world."

This is the nearest I could get to defining "SUCCESS"

For me..it's not a state to be reached..it's a continuous process of being...

success is not something u get.. its something u chase after.. and never reach. once u think u've reached success, u've lost!

Success has 2 b defined by you.
It may b achieving an educational degree, or owning a house, or writing a book. Success may b materialistic or achieving even a state of mind.
The big question is what do you do when you have achieved the succes defined by u? Be satisfied & b stagnant? By the time u r successful u r a different person altogether & u may like 2 define newer targets of success. Pl don't bother whether the whole world considers u successful or not.
Sorry if the whole thing has sounded like 'gyaan'.

Success is not about getting good marks in exams, or reaching the pinnacle of your career.
It is not limited to achieving ur goals alone. cos the craving for sucess never stops.
When you achieve one set of goals you formulate the next set.
The more you get it the more you want it

success is boring.. means there is nothing better to do.. and when it becomes a habbit..one loses the quest..

:p..just lamenting about my addiction (touch wood)..

if i were to celebrate little things in life..
the smile a brought on the road side kid when i clicked his photograph..
the happiness i saw in the old woman's face when i offered her a seat..
the warmth i see in my parents face when they see me back after a break..

all that is success....living today..waking each morning..to face the worlkd again is success..

and now if i crack your word verification code..that too would be success..

In my opinion, kris has offered the best definition, so far.
I will not suggest reading Jack Welch, or Shiv Khera, or Robin S Sharma, or Arindam Chaudhuri, or Dr. Spencer Johnson (Who Moved My Cheese?) though all of them talk, ultimately, about success from different angles.
May I suggest ‘The Law of Success’ by Napelion Hill and ‘Karmayoga’ by Swami Vivekananda (if you like to be in the rat race and also to be out of it, mentally)?

hmmm.. guess success is identifying what u want to do in life and then following that with passion. I know my definition is immature.

On your part it was nice attempt to define success.really liked it.

It's an interesting and thought-provoking piece. In my opinion, achieving success is akin to achieving God - there are numerous paths and varying individual outlooks resulting in the same final state ...

But I stick by Shashi in saying that achieving the state would be boring 'coz it leaves nothing else to do in life!

... And here's to filling up your blog with comments
