The sea

She walked by the sea watching a thousand waves kissing her at her feet.
How ephemeral was their passion! How fleeting! And how much at extremes!
One moment begging to touch her,to feel her and the next- making haste to get away-with a sudden unexplained repulsion.

She stood at the place where a thousand promises were made to be broken.

The sea looked so inviting today...promising the peace that has deluded her for years now.

She turned back to see a set of footprints or two..but there was no trace ....the waves had washed away the markings of the past..a past which had perished silently..

Slowly she ambled into the water lapping at her

***
The following morning he clucked with unattached emotion when he read in the newspaper
-"Fishermen have found the body of an unidentified woman"

The detailed description of the body followed but he didn't have the time to go through it.
It was already time to get ready.
He had a busy day ahead.

Very nice descrition of the sea.

Is this is the end? Or does this post have a continuation too, especially since I am all excited and curious to find out what the relation between the two was? :-)

But surely someone without whom she couldn't think of getting on with life ...

Let's say..he was the REASON..or the pair of footprints she was expecting to see on the sea shore...

Aparna,

I get the metaphor behind the lines. Maybe the girl should have walked further and looked again. Pooja nahi to koi dooja!;)

I wrote a very similar poem at one point but it wasnt half as poetic as your prose.

@Saket

Thanks again!
That's a great compliment...
If prose can have the rhythm of poetry...it has done something..

I hope u'll help me improve my writing skills...
Iam seriously serious about it..

Keep sending ur feedback...
It's a great support..

Btw...U r right there...

She should have walked further...

Aparna, trust me you don't need any help from me. You write very well. I need some suggestions from you about my blog. Do stop by sometime!

Carpe Diem! Be passionate about life like you are already. If you've watched this movie called "Dead Poet's Society",in it Mr Keating says... "What is the purpose of language?" A student says "Well to communicate"... Mr Keating replies.. "Noo.. it is to woo women!" Somehow that's a much more beautiful reason even though it may not be entirely accurate. :)

@Saket

What do women do with language then?
:)

hehehhe that's a justifiable question. I guess more often than not, to forbid guys from wooing them. ;-)

In an ideal world maybe to respond positively to the wooing. :)

Then again, like I said in the last post, I don't totally agree with Mr Keating's thesis. Language helps achieve a lot of goals, most importantly telling children about the mistakes you made and how not to repeat them. Just my opinion ofcourse.

@Saket
Good one that was...
"Telling children about the mistakes u made"
One of the better uses of language..

I guess...words for me are more of a way to preserve my sanity in this crazy...c-r-a-z-y world..

Believe it or not..my blog acts like a buffer when I am feeling low...
And anyways..organising ur thoughts into language...is a convenient way of self -assessment..I guess it brings out the "me"

That is why I call it a "Journey towards self realisation.."

As for the other utilities...

I feel I am very inept in expressing my romantic feelings in words...I always manage to make a mess!!
hee hee(*gets into a giggling fit*)
