Happiness is : a boxful of crayons
I read this story as a little kid, about a boy who heard that a treasure lies buried where a rainbow meets the Earth. When he saw rainbows, he would run hither thither to find the fortune. Needless to say, he never found one.
Somehow that child lives in us. All our lives, we chase what we believe achieving will make us happier, better, stronger... but the list of comparatives is as delusional as the treasure. We never attain it. We spend a lifetime preparing for a lifetime. The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. Happiness is where you are. (John Burroughs said: "opportunity" )
I bought colored pencils to fill my scrapbook and I am having the fun of my life being a kid again. It might sound silly but you will be surprised to know how effective it really is.
You have the colors in your hand. Go, paint your sky.:)

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
- Albert Camus
quite true!!! u really know the art of saying profound things with teh simplest of words.. love it!!
Wah VSky Wah. Well said. The colors to paint life are always in our hands. Still, we rarely see and use them.
Quite true. Colors are nice. Even scrubbing blacks throughout to make dirty things are nice.
so are u coloring within the lines? :-)
@candid
Yes, cheerful abandonment is one way to live life. But a thinking animal like man has to bear the curse of his own intellect. :D
@sam
Thank you. That's an honor to be appreciated so.
@ekalayva
VSky. Tee hee hee I like that abbreviation. We don't see our own hands because we are busy looking somewhere else. ( Double entendre for the clever *icks)
@ranjan
Umm. Dunno about that. Would give me a vandalistic pleasure maybe.I remember I used to draw with charcoal on my wall and think that I can defeat Hussain with my crooked lines. But creation gave me happiness nevertheless. Any creation. It still does. And of all methods and media- I choose words :)
@zoxcleb
I draw my own lines :)
oooooh.... to dance in the rain and paint on the walls!!! lolz!!! loved the post...
well said!
you have been coming back to this theme for quite sometime now. does it mean, now that all concrete dreams you had while growing up are fulfilled more or less, you feel the emptiness of not knowing "what's next"? or put in another way, now that you find yourself cast in a position where you find you can be anything you want to be, you no longer feel you know what you want to be? if so, congratulations on entering adulthood :-)
@bubbles
Aah! Feels good to see others who are effected by the same disease :)
@arnab
Bingo! Happiness to me meant an address here. Now that I have reached it, I have to change my goal to go on. The ever evolving form of happiness makes me think if it actually is reaching/being/having something or is it the journey itself and the employment of all your faculties into traveling towards it? Because when you reach there, it won't be what you strive to be. It is what you are. By corollary, perfection would be boring. Because you have nothing left to be/do/have. Fortunately, one human life span is way too short for all the wonderful things in this world and we have just ample time to chase one dream after the another. And yeah, also paint our scrapbooks with colored pencil and do other such child like things in the meantime :)
