Life means more...

SG1 said to me recently, happiness to him is sleeping - when the mind is blank and we are at our vulnerable most.

For me, it is waking up to realize that you can materialize your dreams. It is seeing yourself each day become what you have always wanted to be. Happiness is in being alive, living each moment, being yourself.

I'll borrow his idea of visibility of happiness though-> It's the total spectrum that matters. If you digitize it, you might find discrete packets which are not-so-happy, but the overall effect should be of the color of gaiety.

This reminds me of a poem I had read on a greeting card years ago, which keeps playing in my mind every time I make fragile efforts to define happiness:

"Each day has a gift to give,
Small joys and great ones too
Beauty to see and songs to hear
And wonderful things to do.
Enjoy each to the fullest;
For they add up to nothing less-
Than a life full of lovely moments
And a heart full of happiness."

What does happiness mean to you?

Yes. waking up means the opportunity to try to the best of your ability to culminate your dreams. Each new day is a new beginning. :)

To me, happiness is when you know you have lived to the best of your efforts to realize your dreams. It needn't be a result at all, neither even it has to have me succeed. But still the feeling of having tried my best bears the sweet fruit to everything :)

So sweet... yes, I agree.. happiness is much more than whiling away your time... for me happiness is doing something driven by passion, its about travelling and seeing new beautiful places, spending time with my family, and following my dreams... no, thats contentment, the following my dreams bit...

Nice one..

Happiness???Hmm..completely depends on one who is enjoying it.

- A walk along the seashore with your heartbeat as your partner.

- Long Drive in rain..Small hut for cutting chai..every sip of it is marvelous!

- Summer Night.. Mom and me..cocunut oil..head massage and gossips.. No match for this :D

- Corner seat in pub and watching at people is something different

- Heavy food..Beautiful Jazz is playing in background and you are lying down on the bed.An amazing feel

Every small moments in life will make you happy only when you are ready for it :)

Zindgi yeh zinda hai mere liye!! :D

I am happy when 1. people honor me 2. I am at the helm of affairs 3. I get good news about my dear and near ones 4. I see my enemy in distress 5. I have buying power 6. I achieve something, even small targets like cooking a good dish or completing a music lesson. Well, I could go on increasing the list…
Btw, you have asked a million dollar question, answer to which was / is being searched by people like Aristotle to Bertrand Russell (In Quest of Happiness) to His Holiness the Dalai Lama (The Art of Happiness: A Handbook for Living) to Stefan Klein (The Science of Happiness) to positive psychologists.
P. S. :- You may find

happiness is a state of mind..its a state when you are at peace, when your needs are fulfilled and yet you are content with what I have..I am happy with simple things in life..and yes, when dreams do come true..

if i could tell you what my happiness is or what it means to me I would have been the greatest philosopher ever.. I knw what can make me happy, makes me happy.. I knw how to make myself happy... but no, I really don't know what it means to me.. except perhaps everything.. and the most important of them all, it is what we always strive for.. isn't it??

happiness is a state of mind which every individual strives for through certain actions. more often than not in ways we may not realise it is dependent on someone else. and that is why I believe that every person that we meet should be greeted whole heartedly, for unknown to us they might do something which would make us happy!!! Like say, that man selling bread to you, of which you made french toast on a rainy afternoon.... and you love it so much it makes you happy as you bite into a crispy one... The bread seller contributed to your happy self is it not???

Happiness is seeing you talk with the light in your eyes, your mouth making ornate movements when you describe something. It is my sudden desire to rush and take you in my arms. But happiness also is to worship you from a distance and see you blossom like an untouched flower. Happiness is loving you and not letting you know how much.

I guess this changes over the course of life. Right now, it is when I look at my lil angel when she is asleep or completely engrossed in some activity (she is all of five).

...In other words, happiness is about relishing special moments, when time seems to slow down.

defining happiness is so vague...its a completely individual perspective...i think its the level of happiness which defines it...
we keep lookin at the big picture forgettin all that small things which make it up
