Someday...
I'm going to learn to play this instrument. Not in the immediate future maybe. But someday...
You have put the photograph as a puzzle. You could have also added – ‘it is usually made of brass, played with a single-reed mouthpiece and was invented by Adolphe Sax in the early 1840s, and patented in 1846. It is generally designed for military bands but extremely popular with popular music, big band music, blues, and jazz’. Aha, it’s a saxophone and all the best wishes to the future saxophonist.
@candid diary Oh, you should extend the wishes to my father too who has recently taken up playing the guitar and is stringing out dulcet sounds. He hass instilled the conviction in me-"If he can do it, I can too" Btw, thanks for the info on the instrument. Lot of R&D to do before I actually learn playing one I see :)
@candid Told ya, not in the immediate future. Maybe 25 years later, when I will have had kids and they'd have grown up and gone to school. But I hope I learn soon enough to play for my parents. And then we can have, "the Kar Family Players" (rem Von Trapp?) And yeah, I had watched that youtube video last Saturday while searching for saxophone. She's petite and so the alto looks bigger than usual , relatively. Ubercool nevertheless. At the end, it turns a little noisy for my taste, but overall great performance. Flutes, mouth organs and piano accordions are great wind instruments too.

Please, please don't start doing any heavy R & D on Sax before you really start learning it. It may either scare or confuse you.
Here is a little R & D from my side:
Online Saxophone Lessons by Ryan Fraser.
Online Instruction for the Saxophone.
A collection of sheet music for the saxophone and other related topics.
Before you start taking on line lessons you would need a Guru to teach you the basics.
If you search for Saxophone in Youtube you will find beautiful pieces like
Nothing gonna change my love for you..
But do you have actually any time for Sax lessons now? Yes, I know once you have decided to learn the instrument you will learn it in the near future.

Ditto ! My ring tone for years has been the saxophone piece in the beginning of George Michael's Careless Whisper. Love that.
