Where is the catch?

Imagine yourself lounging in a spa pool at night with a clear sky above and the stars shining bright. You are supposed to relax, right? But all you can think of is a hidden sniper somewhere. That maybe the outcome of watching too many CSI episodes too, but my point is - we are turning bankrupt when it comes to the capacity of experiencing pure bliss.

We have let others and ourselves let us down too many times to trust in our own happiness anymore. 'Where is the catch?' we seem too busy asking ourselves, instead of assuring ourselves 'There is no catch.'

Ever chased butterflies as a kid? Not so much to catch them, as to run around those beautiful creatures. We didn't worry much about stepping in a puddle while chasing one, did we? The joy is in the process. We have had too many goals, too many deadlines, too many destinations to reach to know it is not the same when the journey is over. It is in the pursuit.

I don't ask you to idle away in useless pursuits, but pause for a while, look around and breath easy. Find joy in whatever you are chasing and say to yourself - this is the best time of my life.

"useless pursuits" - i like that. I think we spend a lot of time in useless pursuits. My personal aim (in the next few years) is to skim it down and focus more on all those "useful" pursuits that provide you with the datum of bliss - As an example, I would start taking flying lessons in the next couple of years and make a personal music album of mine. It will only happen if I pursue the "cause" with a real passion.

"chasing butterflies and stepping on a puddle" - nice one - reminds me of the song - butterflies and hurricanes by muse!
I would rather sometimes step on the puddle, get some mud and dirt on my clothes, get a few scratches here and there - to get something beautiful and to attain something big in life, I personally endure a few cuts and scratches - this is a little out of tone from your central message probably, but I think it can be linked through from some corner.
The "pursuit of pursuing" something involves a great deal of passion and perseverance but love wins over all and guides us through all the rugged phases of our life.

cant agree anymore that the joy or sorrow is in the process ...

would love to say always i love the moment, i try to, always give an honest attempt but being too truthful sometimes i fail

..life is beautiful, nothing is useless, a few useless today can make a meaningful tomorrow...
