Say Hello to iPhone

Ever since the announcement by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Conference & Expo on 9 January 2007, gadget freaks all over the world have been waiting for the launch of the Apple iPhone. Now the date has been extended to be 29 June 2007 in the U.S. at 6 p.m local time, with a price of US$499 for the 4 GB model and US$599 for the 8 GB model. They will be available in Europe in Q4 2007 and in Asia in 2008.
With Apple filing more than 200 patents related to the technology related to iPhone, the hype has only increased. The world's obvious obsession with it is getting a bit out of hand though, with alleged iPhone spottings before it's launch. Why! Even I can't wait to wrap my fingers around one of those babies!
( In case, someone wants to give me a really good Bday gift - take note of this)
Right now I am drooling over this:

The next best thing since George Clooney :P (yeah , still under the influence of Ocean's Thirteen. I was drooling over him so much, I think I brought a deluge at PVR Spice:D )

Just 7 days to go! Happy gadget hunting :D

Everything attributed to an awesome product and even better Marketing strategy. And what will happen? Some day Microsoft will enter this domain too.. name it Pune (or something closer to their present product Zune), and soon will embarrass the owner of the that product!

Ha ha..Aparna,finally,it all boils down to smart marketing...and,I think mobile phone makers are more adept at making their phones seem like the world's best 'bargains' everytime than any other sellers...waiting to see a pic of your iphone.

The person giving you an iPhone as a really good B'day gift will also have to (i) give you a ticket to USA (ii)arrange a service from AT & T. Demand for iPhone in the USA will keep Apple busy for the next 2 years and they will not be able market iPhones outside USA.
As a consolation you can customize your Windows mobile phone to emulate several of the iPhone's more interesting features, like the iPhone's home screen, flick-scroll contacts, and the fancy slide-to-unlock.
Regarding Steve Vs Bill and who will win you may like to see this article.

@ candid
The person I'm hoping will gift me an iPhone will be funding my tickets to US of A. :D
Arranging a service from At&T should not be an issue. But coming back to India and using it within two years will be :(
I guess I will have to stick to a NOKIA N76 then. I think it's a Quad-band. All N-series phones are :)

i-phone *dreaming*

some updates:

i have already seen a live demo of the product (courtsey: self being the account manager of Apple for my co.)....if the marketing campaign makes you go woow...mark my words when you hold it in your hands...you will get wooooooooooooooooooowed :D

amazing piece of art + tech combined. If you are planning to get it from US...i would suggest rather wait coz it's tied up with different service provider across different places...and the after sales is purchase region specific...they plan to launch it in India by QTR 1 2008 or maybe even earlier :)

will keep on providing all info to u as and when it comes :)

HEHE..we are fed up with iphones. already.. mitch and arindam gt one each.. they were trying to force me to get one.. bt noo.. wait till next year.. whn the price drops. and the bugs are gone.. and they add other user enabled features (installing applications from user-end through sync).. next year.. u will pay 250 instead of 600 :D.. btw.. last day me, arindam , dada and boudi were out for a city tour, and the iphone came in handy. the inbuilt google maps and 24 hours internet from AT & T plus the wi-fi never let us loose our way. iphone literally guided us through each and every street :)

Yea,. I got to know about the iPhone fever going around there. I asked Mitch not to blend in but the allure seems greater. There's one thing about gadgets- once you pick the latest hype, something better comes into the market :P
