Love just is..

Love isn't the adrenaline pumping in prurient youngsters or gossip running in a racy red dress ahead of news. Love just is.
It is the belief that someone will be happy to see you at the end of a tiring day.
It is feeling glad to lie side-by-side holding hands.
It is the fragrance that lingers when he/she hugs you goodbye and you don't know when you will see him/her next; but you hope it is soon.

It is the whispering of those magical words in a crowded airport.
It is the smile across a hall full of strangers that means- "I'm here".
It is the silent promise which says more than words ever can.
It is weeping because the other was hurt.
It is laughing together on a silly joke.
It is letting him/her have the last bar of chocolate you saved for yourself.
It is hating his yellow shoes or her brown sweater and telling him/her that without any preamble.
It is sharing an umbrella on a rainy day and splashing on puddles.
It is sipping ginger tea on a cold evening together .
It is his saying "Excellent" to describe a dish she cooked , even though she knows there should have been more salt.
It is her saying "Not long", when she has waited for hours and he knows it too.
It is creating happiness out of nothing.

All my life I believed that I know what love means but I feel disenchanted today. It's a lot more than I could have ever known. Like I said- love just is.

Credit to Imputrescible's In the Name of Love, for triggering this random chain of thoughts, on a topic I had been avoiding lately, for reasons unknown to me.
And the person to whom I gave flowers today.Happy Anniversary!

:), but i can still engage my olfactory senses to capture the nifty details of the rose thats sitting right in front of me. i can still engage my belly factory in relishing the sweet tender fruits that are trying to kiss each other basking in the small basket, and i can still urge my close ones to watch "chocolat" if they are still unable to figure out the essence of love in chocolates --- that should be it i guess :).. encore...LOVE JUST IS

A bouquet of flowers 12.99$
Fruit basket 9.99$
Assorted chocolates 9.99$
Everyday Card 4.29$

The smile on someone's face- PRICELESS :D

Sorry if I sounded like a Mastercard ad. But I realize now why I need money. To be able to spend on people I love and those who love me :)
Aha! Johny Depp ! I should have known. The idea to keep him coming by guessing the wrong chocolate, even though she knew his favorite- is .. well .. romantic.
Btw, you could always show this article to your close ones so that they know why chocolate is called the love drug. Check out the animation on how anadamide locks on the receptor sites to induce stronger, more sustained positive feelings :D

Sorry Me....
I have been trying to find "true love" in the true connotation in the true sense of the true belief , till the last 28 years...
All I found is an eureka which I would like to share with you,

Love is Lust,
If only you can have a trust,
Love is a hallucination,
That needs a stable station,
Love is a feeling,
Which makes you look at night towards the ceiling,
Love is a disease,
Which makes your thinking freeze!

And now you have so many freezing days in Boston, please love yourself first in spring time, otherwise you might catch a cold if you go out in the opening for love ...

My two cents,
Dada...

LMAO. Thanks for sharing your "Eureka ! " moment with us :) I am sure 28 years have not gone to waste. But the catch is, love as a noun or a verb has some 21 connotations in dictionary.com and yet, none comes close to defining the wholeness of experiencing it. Whether, it is for your work or your family or a hobby you are passionate about - it can inspire you and heal you. Or in extreme cases turn into an obsession with fatal results. It is a balance of attachment and detachment, it is the fulcrum that helps you balance your life. To borrow a phrase from someone- it is that "Progressive Love" , the love in the making.

However, most of the words you used to describe "love" have a negative undertone (hallucination, disease, lust etc. ) I wonder , if you find it someday, face-to-face, the physical manifestation of love in the form of a human being , would you still define it the way you just did?

And yeah, Manoj qouted Erich Segal well : "True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked " :D

frankly... love is an emotion which would make tolerate the greatest of distances, the uncertainty of the next meet, the faithlessness of the clock which ticks away too fast wen together and slow wen apart, a yearning felt even though apart for 5 min, looking back at the road they've walked, smelling their fragrance long after they've gone... probably in a different city, laughing, crying, love is the purest of friendship with a dash of selfishness!! :)

i wish, i cud capture love's essence with my words...

I agree. True love teaches you dignity of life. It makes you want to be a better human than you already are. If you have watched, As Good As It Gets, you know it:

Melvin Udall: I've got a really great compliment for you, and it's true.
Carol Connelly: I'm so afraid you're about to say something awful.
Melvin Udall: Don't be pessimistic, it's not your style. Okay, here I go: Clearly, a mistake. I've got this, what - ailment? My doctor, a shrink that I used to go to all the time, he says that in fifty or sixty percent of the cases, a pill really helps. I *hate* pills, very dangerous thing, pills. Hate. I'm using the word "hate" here, about pills. Hate. My compliment is, that night when you came over and told me that you would never... well, you were there, you know what you said. Well, my compliment to you is, the next morning, I started taking the pills.
Carol Connelly: I don't quite get how that's a compliment for me.
Melvin Udall: You make me want to be a better man.

If you haven't yet- do watch it. Jack Nicholson is phenomenal. He always is, but in this movie he surpasses himself :)

love is something which is highly personalized

for ppl in love, its priceless...the best feeling you ever have

for ppl chasing a love...its the the most cherished destination...

for ppl never in love...its something stupid

for ppl heartbroken in love...its a earthshattering experience

so love just is error 404 --> too complicated to be defined generally

dharmabum said...

among other things that love isn't, i believe love isn't 'because of'...love is, 'in spite of'...love is when you are loved, in spite of being you.

Defining love in words is an ambitious effort from a linguistically challenged person like me. What I can say from my personal experience is that it's a strong emotion which makes us better human beings. And all the negativities that come along with love have nothing to do with the emotion itself. The negativities are more of individual behavioral traits which come out while dealing with this strong emotion in different situations. It was love which took me to the point of destruction and it was love which taught me to live my life. It was my behavior and situations which made to deal with the same emotion differently. And, of course, the domain of love transcends the small world of lovers which , I feel, is an endothermic chamber secluded from the realities of life. Love is more generic. I feel love whenever I am writing, I feel love whenever I am traveling and I feel love doing so many insignificant things. I think love is just a way of life.
